Jonathan accused of repeating PDP’s mistakes in Bayelsa politics

Former President, Goodluck Jonathan, has been accused of playing God, in Bayelsa state politics.

The campaign organisation of Senator Emmanuel Paulker, claim that Jonathan and the leaders of the Peoples Democratic Party prevented Paulker from partaking in Bayelsa state governorship primaries.

Incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson, was given the automatic ticket to seek re-election, following his successful screening and the disqualification of his challengers.

Paulker and a former Chairman of Kolokuma/Opokuma LGA, Ebikitin Diongoli, were disqualified at the party’s zonal screening committee in Port Harcourt, Rivers.

The campaign group of Paulker- Renewal 2015, however believes that Goodluck Jonathan, is behind the disqualification of Dickson’s opponents.

Director-General of the campaign organisation, Dr. Ayakeme Whisky, said the disqualification of Paulker was based on spurious allegations, that the senator did not attach his acceptable tax documents.

Whisky said it was laughable that a sitting senator would be disqualified by the same party he represented in the senatorial election less than six months ago.

He said: “Neither the senator nor Diongoli was briefed on the basis on which they were disqualified. We later discovered that it was based on spurious allegations, one of which was that Paulker did not attach acceptable tax documents. This was indeed incredulous and laughable.

That a sitting senator, who ordinarily, should have nothing against him, should be disqualified by the same party that allowed him fly its flag to the Senate barely six months ago on flimsy excuse of tax papers, is most unfortunate.”
