Sexual Assault Awareness Month ends with allegations of abuse on Twitter | The #YNaijaCover

Social media has been awash with women and feminists alike coming forward with sexual assault experiences that has reopened conversations on coercion. Unlike yesterday’s wave of accounts that had unearthed random men and a few male celebrities as perpetrators, today’s slew of allegations was directed at male Twitter influencers.

Incidentally, April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month and that explains why these stories are being told today. Beyond that, though, this is hoping we can have conversations about how women – and men as well – are victims of sexual assault and cultivate a culture that holds perpetrators accountable.
