Shut up PDP! But your administration did nothing to secure the release of the #ChibokGirls

On Sunday night, the Peoples Democratic Party issued a statement condemning the Federal Government’s decision to swap some Boko Haram prisoners in order to secure the release of 82 of the Chibok girls.

The statement was not only distasteful and disheartening, but coming from a party under which the girls were kidnapped in the first place, makes it absolutely heart wrenching.

Prince Dayo Adeyeye, spokesman for the court sacked Makarfi faction of the party in the statement said, “According to reports, the girls were released in exchange for the release of suspected Boko Haram terrorists. If that is the case, we say it’s a heavy price to pay and an unusual one at that.”

What audacity? Does the PDP have no sense of history?

Has the PDP totally lost it?

The party should just shut up and hide their heads in shame.

It was under their watch on April 14, 2017, that 276 girls were picked up from the Government Secondary School, Chibok, Borno, by the Boko Haram sect, same day over 70 people were killed in a bomb blast in Nyanya, a suburb in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

On that same day, the then President, Goodluck Jonathan was dancing in Kano at a welcome ceremony for a former governor of the state, Ibrahim Shekarau.

The party has no modicum of shame. The PDP needs to know that there is no price too heavy to pay for the release of the Chibok Girls. This will be a surprise to a party who supervised their abduction in the first place.

There was no need for the girls to have been abducted and the Buhari-led administration burdened with the arduous task of rescuing them.

Isn’t it annoying that the girls were kidnapped while Jonathan was actively working from his office, but Buhari ensured their safe release while “working from home”.

Just like former president, Olusegun Obasanjo said the PDP is a dead party that should be thrown in the dustbin.

Its misrule of this nation has done a lot of harm, it had better not add foolishness to its decay.

Once again, the PDP shut should up and stop insulting our sensibilities.
