BREAKING: Supreme Court upholds Amosun, Umahi’s governorship elections

The election of Dave Umahi as governor of Ebonyi state, has been upheld by the Supreme Court sitting in Abuja.

The unanimous judgment read by Justice Centus Nweze on Wednesday, held that the appeal filed by the petitioner, Edward Nkwegu of the Labour Party.

The Supreme Court ruling, like that of Rivers state, failed to state the reasons behind the judgment.

The court fixed February 5, 2016 as when it would stated the rationale behind the dismissal of Nkwegu.

Meanwhile, the apex court has also upheld the election of Ibikunle Amosun as the governor of Ogun state.

The court dismissed the appeal by the PDP governorship candidate in Ogun State, Adegboyega Isiaka.

Isiaka had challenged the judgments of the Court of Appeal and Ogun State governorship election tribunal, which both upheld the election of Ibikunle Amosun as governor of Ogun State.
