Taraba tribunal judgement is a rape of justice – Wike

Rivers state governor, Nyesom Wike, has described the Taraba election tribunal judgement on the state’s governorship election, as a rape of justice.

The Taraba Governorship Election Tribunal had on Saturday, nullified the election Governor Darius Ishaku of the Peoples Democratic Party.

Citing the lack of an acceptable and INEC-recognised primary election in the PDP, the tribunal ruled that Aisha Alhassan, who came second in the polls, should take over as governor.

Wike, reacting to the judgement via his Facebook page on Sunday, said Nigeria’s democracy is crying under the President Muhammadu Buhari-led All Progressives Congress.

In a short Facebok post, the governor wrote: “Election petition tribunal could sit in Boko Haram main zone Borno and Yobe whereas rivers and Taraba was moved to Abuja due to security reasons.”

“Is Yobe and Borno more secured than Rivers and Taraba? Our democracy is crying under the All Progressives Congress and President Muhammadu Buhari.”
