A father has reportedly murdered his 16-year-old son.

45-year-old Nwofu Igbo has been arrested for killing his teenage son in Nwofe community, in Izzi LGA of Ebonyi.

The boy is believed to have just returned home from Lagos to celebrate the Christmas holiday with his family.

According to an eyewitness account, Igbo murdered his son due to a quarrel between him (Igbo) and the deceased’s mother.

“The suspect has, after a quarrel with his wife (mother of the deceased), banished her for reasons best known to him,” the eyewitness said.

Meanwhile, the police spokesperson in the state, Chris Anyanwu, confirmed the incident, saying the matter was being investigated by the police.

He said: “The police is prepared to get to the root of the problem that led to the killing of the boy.”
