Allegations by the Gwoza Christian Community Association (GCCA) have been leveled against Alhaji Abubakar Gula, Chairman of the Borno state butchers association of using the Maiduguri abattoir as a breeding ground for Boko Haram, a radical and violent Islamic sect.
He described the allegations as false and misrepresentation to purposely disrupt the peace being enjoyed by resident citizens of Borno state under the guise of religion.
Recently, the Christian Community in Gwoza local government Council of Borno state have suffered attacks, which they alleged was informed by plan of some politicians using the butchers of Gwoza community in Borno to slaughter their fellow Christian brothers in Gwoza local government.

The butchers association in a statement made available to newsmen in Maiduguri, the Borno state capital on Monday, also denied that the Borno state governor, Kashim Shettima gave the butchers from Gwoza the sum of N25,000,000 (twenty-five million naira) for whatever reason, but that the money was made available to the butchers out of the governors magnanimity as a grant of loan to the National Butchers Union of Nigeria, Maiduguri Branch.
“It is a common knowledge that such a gigantic commercial site cannot be said to have consist of only people from Gwoza, but it comprises of people from different states of the Federation irrespective of their religion or tribes as well as people from the neigbouring countries of Niger, Chad and Cameroon republic.” Alhaji Gula stressed.
Also in the statement, the Secretary General of the Union, Stephen David, who is also an indigene of Gwoza locañ government area, from Bayan Dutse, Gava Anguwan Mission, condenm the allegation that the abattoir is a breeding ground for insurgency in the state.
His statement is that, the allegation is malicious, baseless and devilish in nature, intended only to instigate hatred and disaffection among the peace loving people of the state.
He maintained that, if the allegation is true, he would have not been alive today, not to talk of being the Secretary General of the butchers union, as such he called on the public to disregard the allegation by GCCA.
Also Alhaji Mala Modu, the Chief Butcher at the Borno Abattoir said, the allegation by GCCA is a deliberate attempt to paint the abattoir black and also tarnish the image of its operators.
