Opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) has apologised to former President Olusegun Obasanjo, for what it termed  ‘‘bad conduct and mistreatment.’’

Media Aide to the former president, Kehinde Akinyemi, who confirmed the apology in a statement issued on Saturday in Abeokuta, said the party’s National Chairman, Uche Secondus and a 21-member delegation of the party’s National Working Committee (NWC) during a courtesy call on Obasanjo, tendered the apology.

Akinyemi added that Obasanjo granted forgiveness to the party in line with biblical injunction, and reiterated that he had quit partisan politics, but would continue to make himself available to guide any party that so desired.


Agents of some of the major political parties were seen inducing voters with money to vote their candidates in the ongoing governorship election in Ekiti.

According to Premium Times, in some of the polling units, voters received various sums of money ranging from N3,000 to N5,000.


President Muhammadu Buhari will on Sunday visit the Netherlands to participate in activities commemorating the 20th anniversary of the adoption of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court, at The Hague.

According to a statement signed by Presidential Media Adviser, Femi Adesina, Buhari is the only world leader invited to deliver a keynote address during the Solemn Hearing to commemorate the anniversary at Courtroom 1 of the ICC’s Headquarters at The Hague.


The Taraba Police Command on Saturday said it has arrested four persons in connection with the recent killings in Lau Local Government Area of the state.

Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP David Misal, who disclosed this in a statement in Jalingo, confirmed the killing of 17 persons in the attack and several houses burnt by the bandits.


The Lagos Police Command said it has arrested a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Dipo Olorunrinu, and two others over alleged unlawful possession of firearms.

Police spokesman, CSP Chike Oti, who made the disclosure on Saturday, noted that the suspects were undergoing interrogations.

“The first and second suspects, Wale Oye (37) and Ganiyu Ajiboluwa (47), were arrested on July 12, at about 5.45 p.m. by a team of Inspector-General of Police X-Squad operatives on patrol at Apple Junction, along Festac extension, Amuwo Odofin.
