The Federal government of Nigeria has confirmed reports which circulated in the media space yesterday that more Chibok girls had been released from captivity.
Over 300 girls from a Government Secondary school in Chibok town, Borno state were abducted on the 14th of April 2014. This would make the second batch of girls released in large numbers since last year.
The presidency says it negotiated the released of the girls with the help of the Red Cross, the Switzerland government and the DSS. This time around, though, the girls’ freedom was hinged on an exchange of Boko Haram suspects which were being held by the Federal government.
Here’s what Senator Shehu Sani tweeted:
It's credible that 82 girls have been released;all in good condition with the exception of 1 with fracture on d hand and one with crouches.

Chibok girls captivity tested the degree of our conscience,of our resilience,of our humanity and of our claim of responsibility to others.

It also tested the degree of delay in letting Nigerians know how much our senators are collecting as allowances and salary

It tested Gov irresponsibility, naivety and highest level of corruption known to mankind in Nigeria.

Those who held the torch of their freedom against the odds of time, alighted the path to those who unlock the key to their freedom.
