Well, the Police High Command has redeployed Assistant Inspector General of Police, Mbu Joseph Mbu, as well as 27 other AIGs.
The directive for redeployment was issued by the Inspector General of Police, Suleiman Abba, on Tuesday, January 20.
FOLLOWING his advertisements in some major newspapers where he warned the Northerners that enough of state burials, the Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, President Goodluck Jonathan and the party have in unison disowned governor Ayodele Fayose, saying he was on his own.
In the advertisement which was credited to Governor Ayo Fayose, he had said, ” Nigerians Be Warned! Nigeria…I have set set before thee Life and Death. Therefore, choose life that both thee and thy seed may live.”
Answering questions from journalists Tuesday in Abuja, the Director of Media and Publicity of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Presidential Campaign Organisation, Chief Femi Fani-Kayode, who noted that the Organisation and the party distanced themselves from the governor’s position, said, “Governor Ayo Fayose is a distinguish leader of our party. A. democratically elected governor and someone we have immense respect and affection for and he released this advert in his own name.
As anxiety mounts across the country ahead of February’s general elections, Governor Gabriel Suswam of Benue State, has declared that “the opposition All Progressives Congress, APC, is on a failed mission.’’
Suswam said: “As far as I know, especially with our records of achievements which is there for everyone to see, the PDP would record a resounding victory at the coming elections.”
He spoke weekend, while welcoming defecting members of the APC from across the state to the PDP, at the party’s zonal campaign rally in Makurdi, adding, “there is much desperation among APC members and it’s an early sign of despair and failure which is watering the grounds for the eventual victory of the PDP in Benue State and the country at large.
Mr Dan Iwuanyawu, Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT ), Labour Party, has urged the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to postpone forthcoming general elections to enable eligible voters to collect Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs).
Iwuanyawu, who made the call while exchanging views with newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, said that the postponement was necessary in view of the fact that only 38 million voters, out of 68 million registered by INEC, had collected the PVC.
He said that there only few weeks to the general elections, adding that he was speaking as a Nigerian and a voter ‘’that we cannot go ahead with the process as plotted by INEC’’.
President Goodluck Jonathan on Tuesday promised the people of Zamfara State of a befitting airport if he is re-elected during the February 14 presidential election.
He made the promise just as he was conferred with a traditional tittle of “Garkuwan Manoman” (protector of farmers in Zamfara), by the Emir of Zamfara, Alhaji Muhammadu Kabir.
Jonathan was in Gusau in continuation of the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential campaign.
He paid a courtesy visit on the emir before proceeding to the Trade Fair Complex, Gusau venue of the rally.
Kabir told the President that the State Traditional Council would soon announce a date for the President’s turbaning.
