Court finds Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan guilty of contempt

A Federal High Court in Abuja has found Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan guilty of contempt for violating a court order restricting public commentary on her ongoing case against Senate President Godswill Akpabio and others.

The court also imposed a ₦5 million fine on the senator for the violation.

The Republics of Benin and Togo have failed to remit over $11 million owed to Nigeria for electricity supplied in the first quarter of 2025, according to the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC).

Bilateral customers in both countries, including Benin’s SBEE and Togo’s CEET, paid only a fraction of their invoices. Togo’s CEET, which receives power through agreements with Odukpani and Paras Energy, made no payments during the period.

Similarly, SBEE, supplied via contracts with Transcorp and Paras, only made partial remittance. NERC did not state whether enforcement measures would follow.
