A woman in Ogun who was in a roadside church to make her petitions known to God was hit by a truck while praying yesterday.

The incident occurred in the Sotubo environs of the Sagamu-Ikorodu road in the Sagamu Local Government Area of the state.

The woman, identified simply as “Iyawo Alfa”, was in the church with her four month old baby and a pastor, both of whom survived the accident.

Vanguard reports:

The incident, which occurred at about 6.00 am, was reported to be the second in three weeks in the same church.

According to an eye-witness, the tipper with number plate XM 594 SMK was from Sagamu end of the road, but had a blowout in one of its front tyres, making the driver lose control and rammed into the church.

It was gathered that the woman was hit from behind while kneeling in prayer with her four month old baby. But, while the woman died on the spot, her baby and the Pastor who was in front of her during the prayer survived.

Vanguard gathered that Police had arrested two persons in respect of the accident.

It was further gathered that a similar accident occurred in front of the church about three weeks ago when an 18-seater bus had an accident in which the driver died.
