5 kilogrammes of “high grade heroin” found inside praying mats in Lagos

Officials of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in Lagos made a startling discovery at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport yesterday.

The narcotics officials discovered a stash of high grade heroin hidden inside praying rugs and abandoned at the airport.

The rugs were said to have been imported from Pakistan and the concealed heroin was found after screening of a Qatar Airline flight.

Vanguard reports:

NDLEA Airport Commander, Mr.Hamza Umar, said the examination of the consignment was witnessed by other security agents.

He said: “The consignment was given 100 per cent physical examination in the presence of customs and other security agents.

“During the search, we found 35 sachets of brown powdery substance that tested positive for heroin concealed in praying rugs.
