TICKER: WATCH: Did Mitt Romney cheat during the debate? You make the call

The rules for presidential debates are clear: No one is to bring into the debate forum any outside material. But new slow motion video from the debate shows Romney walking into the forum and, outside of the view of the audience, pulling some papers out of his pocket and placing them on the podium.

It seems that Romney pulled a cheat sheet from his pocket, and used that cheat sheet to beat President Obama. Some of us were wondering how Romney could’ve memorized all that data, all those numbers, well, now we may have an answer.

CBS Boston reports:

Video of the first eleven seconds of the debate available on YouTube shows Mitt Romney reaching into his pocket at the moment he is out of view of those in front of him, he used the lectern as a shield, and removing what appears to be folded papers from his pocket.

We see this because the camera that was broadcasting was behind Romney. Those in the audience and the moderator may have been shielded from his sleight of hand, but not the viewers.

And judging from the video, it does appear that Romney pulled paper from his pocket.

Everyone remembers Sarah Palin writing notes on her hand, which begs the question of whether cheating is endemic to Republicans? What do you think? Did Romney bring his own crib notes to the debate?

UPDATE: The Romney campaign has responded, saying that the candidate indeed pulled a handkerchief from his pocket. The campaign says that if you watch the entire debate, you’ll see that he used the object to wipe his face. But he didn’t use the *handkerchief* until the debate was almost over (at the  1:26:35 minute mark).
