The Senate Leader, Ali Ndume, says the nomination of Mr. Ibrahim Magu as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) was not rejected.
Ndume, who spoke on Monday to State House correspondents after a closed-door meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, said what the red chamber did was to step down Magu’s screening until issues surrounding the security report concerning him are cleared.
He added that the Senate will seek clearance from Buhari whether it should clear Magu in spite of the security report.
On the issue of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Mr. Babachir Lawal, Ndume said the Senate was yet to indict him of any wrongdoing, as the matter was still under investigation.
