Xenophobia: South Africans attack Nigerians again

by Azeez Adeniyi

Some Nigerian real estate agents in Turffontein, South Africa have been attacked by local resident, Channels TV reports.

According to the TV station, the attackers alleged that Nigerians were hijacking their houses.

It was gathered that it took the intervention of the police to quell the tension in the area.

One of the agents said their businesses were legitimate and whatever benefits they received were only a result of their hard work.

“They say we are driving nice cars, wearing expensive clothes, getting married to their women – Its by God’s grace, we work hard for it,” he said.

The Federally Government has continued making efforts to stop the xenophobic attack in South Africa.

Both countries had agreed to set up an early warning unit to look into issues that often bring friction between the citizens.
