Zidane, Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos make history as Real Madrid clinch 11th UEFA Champions league trophy

Zinedine Zidane, Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos have made history after Real Madrid claimed its 11th UEFA Champions league trophy also known as Un Decima on Saturday night.

Zidane the key to Madrid's 11th heaven

Zidane etched his name into the history books as he became the seventh man ever to win the UCL as a player and a coach.

He is also the eight man ever, to win the UCL in his debut season as a manager.

Ronaldo became the only player with three goals from three different UCL finals, beating his Argentine rival, Messi to the record while Ramos is now the first defender in history to score in two UEFA champions league finals.

According to UEFA, “Ronaldo has also broken clear of Lionel Messi in the all-time UEFA Champions League goalscoring stakes, with 93 to his name compared with the Barcelona man’s 83 – both players having begun the campaign on 77 goals. Ronaldo leads Messi 94–83 in the European Cup overall, including qualifying, for the competition’s 61 seasons”

On the night, Real Madrid edged out Atletico Mardid 5-3 on penalties after the game was tied at one all at normal time.

Ronaldo UCLRonaldo stepped up to win the title for Los Blancos after Atletco’s Juanfran had missed his own penalty by hitting onto the woodwork.

The game which was a keenly-contested match saw Real Madrid take the lead in the first half through Sergio Ramos after he squeezed the ball through the legs of Jan Oblak.

Atletico came out roaring in the second half and they were rewarded for their persistence as substitute Yannick Carrasco blasted in a sitter with 11 minutes remaining which sent the game to extra-time, where neither side found a winner to prevent penalties.
