Lotion is an instant fix for oil control, and is both short and long term solution. It absorbs grease, dries matte and reduces shine all day. Look out for a paraben-free cream which essentially acts as a preservative in beauty and men’s grooming products.

One out of every four men suffers from an unwanted face glow which is nothing but a result of slick skin. Blame it on higher levels of sebum-increasing testosterone, it can range from a moderate sheen on your skin in the start of the day to skin that looks like an oil spill by noon. The good news is that oily skin is not a lifelong plague. With few tweaks in your skincare method, you can control the problem to a large extent. Here’s how to achieve the right skin balance.

1. Mist

Facial mists are today’s toner. Especially convenient in spray forms, mist restores skin’s pH balance after cleansing, and increases hydration levels of the face thus soaking up excess grease. Herbal mists are especially good for men with large pores.

2. Cleanser

Look out for an exfoliating face (sulfate-free) wash that poses no risk of over drying the skin – which is one of the reasons why face produces excess sebum. It’s always advisable for men, who have a regular build-up of dirt and grime owing to their job, to err on the side of caution while using face scrub. Use a face scrub no more than three times a week.

3. Lotion

Lotion is an instant fix for oil control, and is both short and long term solution. It absorbs grease, dries matte and reduces shine all day. Look out for a paraben-free cream which essentially acts as a preservative in beauty and men’s grooming products. What you need to look out for is actually silica that will help diffuse light, and will keep your skin relatively dry.

4. Mask

Masks do all the things that cleansers, moisturizers, toners and scrubs often need a little help with- meaning, getting rid of everything your body doesn’t need. Masks tame oiliness, especially from the T-Zone area by absorbing excess oils. Masks infuse oxygen and moisture to promote skin renewal and ensure proper blood circulation – all this contributes to a well looking and feeling skin.

5. Blotting Papers

Oily skin can lead to unwarranted pimples, so, rubbing your face with blotting papers, coffee filters or even Starbucks napkins work equally well. It’s a quick fix that you should be your last resort. The tear-resistant squares of blotting papers sop up oil and dirt, but it’s only a temporary method.
