The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has issued a Certificate of Return to Uche Ogah of the Peoples Democratic Party to assume position of Governor of Abia state.
An Abuja Federal High Court order of Monday, June 27, had mandated INEC to ‘immediately’ issue Certificate of Return to Ogah.
This was after the presiding judge, Justice Okon Abang had nullified the election of Governor Okezie Ikpeazu.
He was accused of filing false tax returns during the primaries and as such, was never qualified to run in the PDP primaries as a governorship candidate.
Hence, Ogah who came second in the PDP primaries, was declared the original candidate of the opposition party.
