NASS members have only sat for 15 days, yet have spent N13bn

Since its inauguration on June 9, the National Assembly, has reportedly spent about N12, 967, 600,000 in two months to maintain its members and staffs.

The lawmakers of both chambers were paid N10 milion each in June to help them with settling down in Abuja.

The amount, which was meant to cover their housing, transport and furniture, is put at N4.6billion.

Despite sitting for a total of 15 days, The Nation reports that 109 senators have each gotten paid N36.4 million while the 360 members of the House of Representatives were paid N25 million each.

Since their inauguration, the legislators have gone on recess three times for a total of 12 weeks, and are yet to pass a single bill since they began sitting in June.

The lawmakers went on break last Thursday, but not without getting some break-money.

Senators got N13 million each and while the members of the House of representatives got N8 million.
