In a bid to force a postponement of the general elections, the presidency and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), have reportedly finalised plans to stage a series of protests against the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

According to Presidency and PDP sources who spoke to Premium Times, women and youth groups across the country would be mobilized to march on INEC headquarters and state offices, to protest the electoral body’s inability to effectively share the Permanent Voter Cards (PVC).

The objective of the protesters will be to call for a postponement of the election, in order to avoid been marginalized at the polls.

Presidency officials, PDP’s presidential campaign and officials of the party, are believed to have had several planning meetings, on the mode of financing the women and youth groups that will carry out the protest.

A source revealed that the meeting held on Wednesday, January 28, served as confirmation that PDP officials wanted more time to figure out how to turn around the elections.

Another presidency source said: “They agreed that the best thing to do is to force a postponement to allow the party recover effectively. They also agreed that the momentum to attack the integrity of General Buhari must be maintained before any election is allowed.”
