‘Sometimes adversity is what you need to face in order to become
successful’ – Zig Ziglar
2015 was the year I tested my limits, the year it crystallised in my mind that knowing, and doing are worlds apart.
It started off pretty strong- positive as always, yes I’m one of those New Years Resolution – mind mapping types! Then, like almost everyone in this country – elections madness, the erratic currency fluctuation and the interminable waiting – for the elections to happen, the ministers, their portfolios – took their toll.
Coupled with two major life changes and a massive project, I felt completely overwhelmed.
Fast forward a few months – I rallied and stretched myself in ways I never thought possible. I didn’t even know I had it in me, but I didn’t do it alone.
I’m grateful for my brilliant, (and sometimes incredibly forceful) family – they pushed and shoved me when I wallowed in self-pity a little too much. My mentors who helped me through one of the roughest patches in my life.
And to my friends – the doubters who made me think and re-evaluate and the cheerleaders who continuously reminded me of my strengths.
And to my team, my hittas who believed in me even when I didn’t believe in myself. I’m grateful for learning so much this year – about staying calm under fire, and about leadership, and I’m very, very grateful for the chance to do what I love, day in , day out – regardless of the challenges.
