Speaking yesterday in Jos while dedicating the headquarters of the Maranatha Covenant Church International, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church, Pastor Enoch Adeboye stated that over 46 branches of the church were burnt down in the violence following the 2011 elections in Northern Nigeria.

According to Vanguard, “he made this known in Jos on Wednesday while dedicating the the Maranatha Covenant Church International headquarters noting that Christians in the North were being persecuted innocently.”

He commended Christians for remaining steadfast in face of persecution urging them to draw closer to God and be prayerful.Taking his Bible Reading from the Book of Romans chapter 8 verse 31, Pastor Adeboye charged christians to depend on God as their saviour.

He called on all christian faithful to seek the face of God first in all they do as God has always kept his covenant with those that seek Him.

Senior Pastor of Maranatha Covenant Church, Bishop Jonas Katung who was also consecrated, extolled the virtues of Pastor Adeboye whom he said God was using in various ways because of his humility.

Adeboye later presided over an inter-denomination service organized by the state chapter of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria at the Living Faith Church, Jos.

  1. May God save us all.It is hightime we xtians started giving back the so called violent northerners a dose of their medicine.Until we the Southern xtians start retaliating by unleashing terror on the northern muslims amongst us in the south,the northern muslims wouldn’t stop seeing themselves as superior,untouchable heroes.They wouldn’t stop believing that their barbaric act of incessant maiming & killing of innocent xtians in their midst is justified.

  2. The north has always been a hot bed of religious violence. May God have mercy!

  3. God is sitting on the throne watching. He is not deaf that HE ll not hear us nor HIS hand are too short to save us. Lets continue in our prayer & be steadfast.

  4. From d begining persecution has been part of christianity and it was pramised to continues although it will not stop us rather it will strenghten us. Let us always remember to pray for our brothers in the north. Today they are facing persecution 2moro it might b us esp. Now that the population of the northners are on the increase in the south. Maranatha brethren.

  5. Our hope of Glory needs to remain the Ship Master of every vessel called by His Name (call upon our Counselor/Advocate/Reconciler/Shield); & look unto Him who is the author and finisher of our faith for every step we must take for the victory is already ours against the plans, snares, & devices of our adversary!

    1. We are troubled on every side, yet not distressed ; we are perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; cast down, but not destroyed; Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our body. For we which live are alway delivered unto death for Jesus' sake, that the life also of Jesus might be made manifest in our mortal flesh. So then death worketh in us, but life in you. We having the same spirit of faith, according as it is written, I believed, and therefore have I spoken; we also believe, and therefore speak; Knowing that he which raised up the Lord Jesus shall raise up us also by Jesus, and shall present us with you. For all things are for your sakes, that the abundant grace might through the thanksgiving of many redound to the glory of God. For which cause we faint not; but though our outward man perish, yet the inward man is renewed day by day. For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory; While we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen: for the things which are seen are temporal; but the things which are not seen are eternal. {II Corinthians 4:8-18}
