YNaija’s 12 days of Christmas: The paralympics team

nigeria paralympics

In a lot of ways, 2016 has been a very stressful year. Hopefully, it hasn’t been as stressful for you as it has been for our dear nation, Nigeria.

Still, there is a lot to be thankful for. And so, in our special version of ’12 days of Christmas’, we’ll remind you – with the Good News only – of the reasons why things have not all been bad so far.

Without further ado:

On the twelfth day of Christmas

2016 sent to us:

An amazing paralympics team;

Mark Zuckerberg’s visit;

Help from MMM;

The release of 21 Chibok girls;

Some N-powerment;

The Dream Team;

The Clean Up;

a teenage technovator;

PENCOM getting it right;

Wizkid’s international status;

Ayodele Dada;

The Number 1 best female football team in Africa;

The Paralympics team

It says something when a countdown to Christmas starts and ends with the sports.

The truth is Nigeria has gained a whole lot from her sportsmen and women this year despite how badly they have been treated. None of them however brought us as much pride as the Paralympics team did at the Rio Summer Olympics.

Having had a bad outing at the Summer Olympics where our able-bodied athletes secured one Bronze medal, the Paralympics team’s 8 gold medals dragged Christmas in early this year.
