In another fascinating news from absurdity central – not less than 800 plain-cloth and regular policemen were deployed to provide security for Patience Jonathan in Kaduna on Wednesday, and guess what- she never even showed up.
The first lady of Nigeria was reportedly in Port Harcourt, attending another rally, while being represented in Kaduna by the wife of the Vice President, Amina Sambo.
Apart from the 800 policemen, other security agencies and soldiers were stationed at strategic streets leading to the venue of the the North-West Peoples Democratic Party women rally at the Kaduna Township Stadium.
Motorists and other road users were barred from taking the Independence Way, leading to the venue and this inadvertently resulted in a gridlock in the Tafawa Balewa/Ungwar Rimi area of the city.
Meanwhile, a security source hinted that Mrs Jonathan failed to attend the rally due to the recent attack on the convoy of Aisha Buhari, the wife of the All Progressives Congress presidential candidate, Maj. Gen. Muhammadu Buhari, in Ilorin on Monday.
One would think 800 policemen, security agents and soldiers would be enough to make the first lady feel safe enough.
But there is God oh..
