Ex-Minister of Interior, Abba Moro sent to jail (PHOTOS)

A federal High Court sitting in Abuja, on Monday, has ordered the immediate remand of former Minister of Interior, Abba Moro, and two others, in Kuje prison, pending the hearing of their bail application on March 2nd.

Moro and Anaesthesia Nwaobia, a Permanent Secretary in the ministry and a Deputy Director Finance, F.O Alayegbami, were arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on an 11 count criminal charge over the 2014 N676 million Nigerian Immigration recruitment scandal that lead to the death of more than 20 job seekers.

The presiding judge, Justice Anwuli Chikere, granted bail to second defendant, Anaesthesia Nwaobia, because she recently put to birth and was still nursing her child.

The three accused pleaded not guilty to all the charges preferred them.

The defendants are accused of obtaining by false pretence, procurement fraud and money laundering. They are said to have defrauded 676,675 applicants, each job seeker paying the sum of N1000 for registration in the job recruitment scam.
