The Federal Government on Thursday arraigned Senator representing Bauchi Central, Isah Misau before the High Court of the Federal Capital Territory in Maitama, Abuja.
Misau was arraigned for allegedly making injurious falsehood statement against the Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris.
Background:
- Senator Misau had accused Ibrahim Idris of collecting bribe from organisations where policemen were deployed to provide security.
- He also alleged that police officers pay millions of naira to the IGP for special promotions.
- He later alleged that the IGP impregnated some policewomen and promoted them.
- The Federal Government had filed a suit against the senator for the accusations.
What is happening:
Misau pleaded not guilty to all the five counts when read to him on Thursday.
The trial judge, Justice Ishaq Bello, who is the Chief Judge of the FCT High Court granted him bail in the sum of N5m with two reliable sureties in like sum.
The judge fixed November 28 and 29 for trial.
