[The Activism Blog] We love what the USAID is doing with Civil Society Organisations

The Strengthening Advocacy and Civic Engagement project (SACE) of the United States Agency for International Development is currently holding a 1-day National Assembly and Civil Society Interactive Technical Session in conjunction with the National Assembly House Committee on Civil Societies and Development partners, in collaboration with the Civil Society Legislative and Advocacy Centre.

The session is centred on an ‘Act to provide for the establishment of the Non-Governmental Organisations Commission for the Coordination, Supervision and Harmonization of the activities of NGOs, and CSOs in Nigeria’ popularly known as the NGO Bill.

The meeting which began at 9am will end at 5pm and is holding at Rockview Royale Hotel, Ademola Adetokunbo Crescent, Wuse II Abuja.

This meeting is focused at catalysing action by providing a space for civic actors to engage formally with the bill by bringing both the law makers, the relevant Ministries, departments and agencies and civil society actors to the table to discuss the NGO bill in a collaborative manner. The participatory approach to be adopted by this activity will contribute to enabling civil society input into the Bill.
