All we gathered from the Daddy Freeze and Hushpuppi trend on Twitter

The issue of internet fraud popularly known as ‘Yahoo Yahoo,’ has for a while been a controversial topic where many have expressed surprise on why anyone would move to justify such endeavour. While many people hold different views on the subject, people who engage in such activities always get the attention of people before and after they are caught.

However, On-Air Personality, Ifedayo Olarinde, popularly known as Daddy Freeze, came under heavy criticism this Friday, after an old video surfaced on the Internet which showed him dinning with Dubai-based socialite, Ray Hushpuppi.

A number of Twitter users berated the broadcaster for staying silent over the arrest of Hushpuppi, having identified with him in the past, yet has remained vocal when it comes to matters regarding what he deemed corruption in religious circles, especially by calling out Church leaders on the issues of tithing, seed sowing and flamboyance.

The viral video which showed the OAP dinning with the singer, was a 2019 documentary he had done on Hushpuppi where he went encouraged Nigerians to adore and request help from Hushpuppi.

Some users went further to stress that for a self-acclaimed investigative journalist, he didn’t do a good job in the 2019 documentary on the life of Hushpuppi, as others called him a fraud enabler, calling on the FBI to look into the OAP.

A few others also noted that his critics are only ‘calling him out’ because he spoke ill of their religious leaders. They stressed that a number of prominent persons had also identified with the socialite and as such, called on Nigerians to equally ‘call-out’ everyone who had associated with Hushpuppi before his arrest.

Following the backlash, the OAP had a Live Instagram session where he addressed the matter and related it to the life of Jesus. In his response, he said he was doing exactly what Jesus would do – dine with sinners and drag religious leaders.
