Armed robbers attack Leadership Newspapers’ director, shoot wife in the head

Armed robbers on Saturday morning attacked the residence of Aniebo Nwamu, Leadership Newspapers’ Standards director, in Abuja, shooting his wife in the head.

Nwamu also sustained machete cuts on his head in the attack.

The robbers reportedly made away with Nwamu’s official car, a Honda Accord, valuables worth millions of naira and an undisclosed amount of money.

The robbers were said to have arrived his residence around 2am in the morning gaining entrance into the building by cutting off the metal protector in one of the windows.

Nwamu had on two occasion on Friday visited the bank to withdraw an undisclosed amount of money driving himself home at night after staying late in the office to finish his daily editorial duties.

When Nwamu was visited in the hospital yesterday, his injured head had been stitched and his wife, who was shot in the head, was said to be in a stable condition after bullets lodged in her skull had been removed by doctors.

The police are said to be intensifying their investigation into the matter.
