The comments made by First Lady, Aisha Buhari, on hyenas and jackals have tumbled social media.

Mrs Buhari had been in the United Kingdom to see her husband, President Muhammadu Buhari even as Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, alleged that she was not allowed to see her husband. The often mentioned Aso Rock cabal supposedly stood in her way.

She has said that she indeed met with President Buhari, extending his greetings to the nation and expressing appreciation for the prayers of Nigerians.

Mrs Buhari’s recent comments have been the major talking point. Many have taken to social media to provide interpretations about the meaning behind the comments, though most persons have settled for the Animal Farm narrative.

They were made in response to the Facebook post by Senator Shehu Sani who referred to “the hyenas and the jackals [that] are scheming and talking to each other in whispered (sic); still doubting whether the Lion King will be back or not…. We strongly believe in the prayers and support of the weaker animals”

As though she could personally relate to the statement, Mrs Buhari responded to Sani’s post by saying that “God has answered the prayer of the weaker Animals. The Hyenas and the jackals will soon be sent out of the kingdom. We strongly believe in the prayers and support of the weaker animals”.

Mrs Buhari did not personalise the “kingdom” even as it was not personalised in the original post by Senator Sani.

On one hand, it would seem Mrs Buhari is giving firm indication about the health of the President that he will be fine and be able to return to the country. On another note, she acknowledges that there has been a cabal who may have tried to interfere with her seeing her husband. She has alluded to this once before, in her interview with BBC Hausa, after which we had the infamous ‘other room’ episode from President Buhari.

By designating herself as one of the “weaker animals”, Mrs Buhari is pointing to the fact that there is a majority control or influence in Aso Rock which she is not a part of. It is much a prayer as it is an alarm to Nigerians to be more aware to the scheming that has been ongoing over the health of the President.
