The sacked National Caretaker Committee of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has alleged that President Muhammadu Buhari nominated card-carrying members of the APC as Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) RECs.
Spokesperson for the committee, Prince Dayo Adeyeye on Friday said the Federal Government was not interested in free and fair elections.
He urged the Senate not to confirm any REC found to belong to a political party.
He said since the current leadership of the country assumed office, it had yet to conduct any peaceful election.
He said, “We have said it before that the present government is not interested in conducting a free and fair election. The signs are there and we have alerted the nation since the assumption of office of the present regime.
“How can the government nominate card-carrying members of the APC as RECs? It is a grand design to rig the election ahead of 2019.
“The Senate should be vigilant and make sure that those who do not merit this position should be thrown out and shown the way out.”
