Buhari to reduce federal ministries to 25

It is strongly believed that President Muhammadu Buhari, may have reduced the number of federal ministries to 25.

The President has consistently hinted that his government cannot maintain the number of ministries the country has and also recently stated that not all his ministers will have portfolios.

Buhari is expected to inaugurate his ministers-designate on Wednesday, and assign portfolios to them, and while some ministries will be scrapped, a few others would be collapsed into one.

The ministries of police affairs, aviation and special duties may have possibly been scrapped while ministries of Lands, Housing, Urban Development and Works have been merged into become Ministry of Works and Housing.

Similarly, the information, culture, national orientation and tourism ministries have been merged into Ministry of Information and Culture.

Also, instead of having a Ministries of Sports and another for Youth Development, the two ministries may be merged to form Ministry of Sports and Youth Development while the Ministry of Aviation is now under the Ministry of Transportation.
