Saraki says allegations that he laundered money are ‘negative lies’

Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Friday, said he will not be distracted by “negative lies” being reported about him on some online media platforms.

Saraki, who says that the reports are sponsored by mischief makers, was reacting to a Sahara Reporters’ report which alleged that he used shell companies and credit cards to launder money during his time as governor of Kwara state.

SR claimed to have received exclusive documents of a police investigation revealing how Bukola Saraki, made a series of questionable deposits and illegal withdrawals from banks in order to launder stolen funds through shell companies and an American Express credit card.

According to the publication, the report was authored by a team of detectives at the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian police headed by a Commissioner of Police.

In a rather swift response, the Senate President took to his Twitter page to say the following:
