Senate President, Bukola Saraki, on Friday, said he will not be distracted by “negative lies” being reported about him on some online media platforms.
Saraki, who says that the reports are sponsored by mischief makers, was reacting to a Sahara Reporters’ report which alleged that he used shell companies and credit cards to launder money during his time as governor of Kwara state.
SR claimed to have received exclusive documents of a police investigation revealing how Bukola Saraki, made a series of questionable deposits and illegal withdrawals from banks in order to launder stolen funds through shell companies and an American Express credit card.
According to the publication, the report was authored by a team of detectives at the Special Fraud Unit of the Nigerian police headed by a Commissioner of Police.
In a rather swift response, the Senate President took to his Twitter page to say the following:

I’m aware of activities of certain online platforms being sponsored by mischief makers to post all sorts of negative lies against me.

The lies will not change my focus to deliver on my mandate, which is to ensure legislation that will directly impact the lives of Nigerians

No matter the pressure, no special interest group can blackmail #8thSenate to do their bidding. I AM ACCOUNTABLE ONLY TO NIGERIANS
