The fully-loaded articulated vehicle after falling off on Airport Road, Mafoluku-Oshodi, Lagos that got the woman trapped underneath…on Thursday (PUNCH)
Reports claim that a woman, Ifeoma Oraka, trapped under a truck after it hit her on Friday morning at Second Rainbow Bus Stop, on the Oshodi-Apapa Expressway, was allegedly ignored by policemen at the scene.
An eyewitness, identified simply as Chibuzor, gave an account of the event:
“I was on my way to work when I got to the bus stop and saw a lot of people gathered. I learnt that the trailer had a failed break and hit a bus the woman was about to board.
“Many people stood there looking at her under the trailer apparently thinking she was dead because the trailer had crushed her legs. Policemen stood all around too controlling the traffic, which I did not think was the most important think at the time.
“I talked to a taxi driver who agreed to take the woman to the hospital. To ensure that she got prompt attention at the hospital, I approached the policemen to at least follow us to the hospital but they shouted at me to get away.”
According to reports, Chibuzor said the policemen showed no sympathy even though the woman had to be dragged from under the trailer half-dead and that they seemed to be only concerned about impounding the two buses that were also involved in the accident.
The Punch reports:
The incident, our correspondent learnt, happened in the front of a police station and in the presence of some policemen.
An eyewitness told Saturday PUNCH that the incident happened around 10 am as the woman stood at the bus stop waiting to board a bus.
Our correspondent learnt that the woman was rushed to Gbagada General Hospital, where she was given first aid treatment and later referred to the Lagos University Teaching Hospital for intensive treatment.
But the Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ngozi Braide, has maintained that the victim could not have been ignored by policemen.
“I was not there but I can tell you that the report that policemen were around but did nothing to help the woman is a lie. Police can never do that,” she said.

ngozi braide you are very stupid, how do you know police cannot do that.birds of same faders idiot
With NAIJA police anything is possible.
Ngozi Braide can say whatever she wants. Nigerians are NOT fools. Its not what she says as Police PRO that matters.
Its what Nigerians have seen & experienced in the hands of the police that matters. ACTIONS speak louder than words.
I have personally witnessed police stealing personal effects at a scene of an accident while seriously injured victims lay by the expressway.
Ngozi Braide can keep deceiving herself and her employers but she should realise that she CANNOT deceive the rest of us.
Well,am not xpecting Braide to say it is true…I wasn’t there but I can tell you a Nigerian police can do wht was reported very well…Police is never our friend biko!
We have seen many cases whereby vicitims were not trapped under the truck, but being visibly seen by the policemen around and they will be concerned about how to make some arrests and money rather than saving the lives of those involved in the accident. The police force is so bad and I wouldn’t expect this woman to forsake her force members in the public. We need better things in this country GOD HELP US!!!
