A 19-year-old man, Shafiu Ibrahim, has been arrested by the Bauchi State Police Command for raping a three-year-old girl.
According to the state’s Police spokesperson, DSP Haruna Mohammed, the suspect lured the little girl to an uncompleted building, where he had carnal knowledge of her.
Mohammed disclosed that after discovery, the victim was rushed to Tashan Babiye Specialist Hospital, Bauchi.
He said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigation is concluded.
The rate of girl-child rape has risen at an alarming rate in recent times, with several paedophiles being arrested and arraigned in courts around the country, on an almost daily basis.
In Bauchi alone, over six people have been arrested over the rape of minors in the past month.
