Court ‘reserves judgement’ on ex-NIMASA boss

The trial of a former Director-General of the Nigerian Maritime Administration and Safety Agency, Raymond Omatseye at the Federal High Court in Lagos has been adjourned to May 20.

Omatseye was charged to court by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) for allegedly engaging in contract splitting and bid rigging estimated at over N1.5bn while he was the DG of NIMASA.

Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia who heard the case in Lagos before she was moved to the Ilorin Division of the court was supposed to return to Lagos to deliver her ruling on the case on Monday, May 9.

The judgement however, could not take place as planned. The court reserved judgement till May 20.

Omatseye had pleaded not guilty to the 27 count charge brought against him by the EFCC but if the Court finds him guilty, he might be facing some serious jail time.
