Model and television personality Holly Madison plans to eat her placenta after giving birth.

Well, this is one way to beat the post-baby blues.

The expectant Holly Madison is following the trend of many mothers before her and plans to eat her placenta in pill form after the birth of her first child.

“This might sound gross, but I’m totally planning on having my placenta turned into pills I can take after giving birth,” the former 33-year old playmate wrote on her blog Wednesday.

The mom-to-be whose daughter is due next week with boyfriend Pasquale Rotella added that she has good reason for what may sound like an abnormal decision, “I heard it helps women recover faster and I want to recover as quickly as I can!

The placenta is an organ that is known to have high levels of vitamins, especially vitamin B6, which can help with any post-birth depression.

“Mad Men” actress January Jones was one of the first Hollywood moms to come out and publicly discuss consuming these pills created from within her own body after she gave birth to her son, Xander Dane in 2011.

“It’s a very civilized thing that can help women with depression or fatigue,” Jones just told the recent issue of Britain’s Glamour Magazine about eating her own placenta.

“I was never depressed or sad or down after the baby was born, so I’d highly suggest it to any pregnant woman.”
