Eye on Ambode: Woman gets instant employment, Lagos students get bursary award and more

We’re back with the Eye on Ambode series and as usual, we will be taking you through some of the activities of Lagos state Governor Akinwunmi Ambode in the past week.

On Wednesday, Governor Ambode was at a town hall meeting where he granted a woman, Mrs Olubunmi Alabi her request for employment in the state’s civil service.

The woman boldly but humbly requested a position as a sports coach and Governor Ambode immediately instructed his Special Assistant on Sports to act on the request.

Also in the week, Governor Ambode approved the payment of bursary and local scholarship to indigent students of the state in tertiary institutions across the country.

Speaking to journalists on behalf of the governor, Special Adviser on Education, Mr. Obafela Bank-Olemoh said, “the timely release of the awards demonstrates the priority the administration of Governor Akinwunmi Ambode accords to educating its citizens”.

It was revealed that over N250 million will be disbursed to a total 6,368 beneficiaries as bursary.

Finally, Governor Ambode fired three of his commissioners on Wednesday and he’s yet to publicly state any reason for the decision.

Commissioner for Tourism, Mr Folorunsho Folarin-Coker; Finance, Dr Mustapha Akinkunmi and Transport, Dr Ekundayo Mobereola were thanked for their service to the state and have been replaced with other officials to act in their place until new appointments are made.
