“Party supremacy must prevail” | Gbajabiamila insists as APC peace moves fail

On Sunday, July 5, Femi Gbajabiamila and his group met with a committee of three set up by the governors of the All Progressives Congress.

The committee includes Adams Oshiomhole of Edo, Rochas Okorocha of Imo and Sokoto State Governor, Aminu Tambuwal, who served as the chairman.

The Gbajabiamila-led group reportedly refused to agree to a compromise when they met with the committee, in an undisclosed location in Abuja.

Gbajabiamila was said to have told the committee that it was imperative that the Dogara group respects the party’s position.

Punch newspapers subsequently reached out to the All Progressives Congress’ Speaker candidate after the meeting, and he disclosed that he insisted that the party’s decision must prevail.

He was quoted to have said: “There are people who are saying party supremacy is no longer relevant. Well, our position is clear; it is either party supremacy or the entire APC caucus will conduct an election to decide on this matter. This point was made very clearly at the meeting.”
