by David Cyril

Billboards erected by loyalists of All Progressive Grand Alliance, APGA, and the People’s Democratic Party, PDP have been reportedly destroyed by unknown persons in in Obowo and Njaba local council areas of Imo state. However, the billboards erected by All Progressive Congress, APC, party faithfuls were left untouched.

Emperor Iwuala, the aide of Emmanuel Ihenacho, governorship aspirant of APGA in Imo state, said the act of vandalism and political intolerance is a “most unfortunate and a very crooked way of expressing power”.

He said, “The destruction of bill boards erected for gubernatorial aspirant of All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, Captain Emmanuel Ihenacho, in Obowo and Njaba local government areas of the state, is not only most unfortunate, but a very crooked way of expressing power”.

Iwuala also said that the unprecedented destruction proves that the other aspirants are intimidated by his boss, “the destruction of the billboards is a strong indication that his principal has an intimidating political profile.”

He added that such acts can only make Ihenacho more popular. “The destruction the billboards cannot deter our principal in his call to run for the 2015 Governorship Election in Imo State, and it is attracting sympathy to him and invariably, making him more popular,” he added.

The Imo state governorship elections will hold in 2015, and the incumbent, Governor Rochas Okorocha of the APC, is facing stiff competition for his seat by a long list of potential aspirants in the persons of Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives, Chief Emeka Ihedioha, former Minister of Transport, Mrs. Kema Chikwe, Senator Chris Anyanwu, immediate past governor of the state, chief Ikedi Ohakim, a former senator, Ifeanyi Ararume and Senator Hope Uzodinma.
