INEC office burnt down, one week to Abia governorship Election Tribunal

The office of the Independent National Electoral Commission in Obingwa LGA of Abia state was burnt down on Sunday, August 2.

The suspected arson which occurred at about 1.00p.m, brought down the entire building.

It is believed in many circles, that the fire outbreak was politically motivated.

Hoodlums suspected to be political thugs were said to have stormed the local government, wielding knives, cutlasses and guns, before setting the electoral office on fire.

The governorship election tribunal of Abia state, is due to commence on August 10 and Obingwa LGA is one of the results being contended at the tribunal.
