Information Nigeria hits 750,000 fans, becomes fastest growing Facebook page in Nigeria

Information Nigeria an Information portal focused on providing interesting Nigerian content has hit the 750,000 fans mark on Facebook and has been acknowledged by Socialbakers.com (A social media analytics website) as the fastest growing Facebook page in Nigeria.

The Information Nigeria Facebook page has overtime become a very interactive platform where Nigerians air their views openly and learn more about Nigeria. The page has seen phenomenal engagement rates with over 200,000 people sharing content from the page each week, and according to pundits with this current growth rate the page will hit 1,000,000 fans within a very short time.

The Information Nigeria website (www.informationng.com) is also posting incredibly strong numbers with over 10 million views monthly. It is currently ranked in Alexa’s top 25 sites in Nigeria.

  1. The population of Nigerians on the social network, Facebook, grew by more than 100 per cent as it rose from 2,180,900 on December 31, 2010 to 4.369, 740 as at December 31, 2011. This shows that a total of 2,188,840 Nigerians logged to the social network within a period of one year. Precisely, Nigerians within the Facebook loop grew by 100.36 per cent between 2010 and 2011. On a population estimate of 156,062,142, the Facebook penetration rate is put at 2.8 per cent. This means that for every 100 Nigerians, 2.8 persons are within the Facebook network.
