For more than a year, the ‘Badoo’ killings was the talk of the town in Ikorodu, Lagos. It started from Ibeshe and later spread to other parts of the state.
These killers were having a field time enjoying what they were doing and the casualties rose from one to over 30 victims not until the state saw the killings as one that could pose unending security challenges to the state if not checked.
Security men, including the military, were mobilised to Ikorodu but there was little to show for their presence until the intervention of the Inspector-General of Police special response team led by then DCP Edgal Imohimi.
On his first visit to Ikorodu, he gave a stern warning to everyone especially traditional and religious leaders that may be culpable in the killings to hands off before they are caught.
To show that he meant business, morning to evening patrol commenced in Ikorodu which saw to the arrest of some suspects and financiers of the Badoo cult. Today, Badoo is history.
Edgal Imohimi is the new commissioner of Police in Lagos and another monster is rearing its head through the unending clash between thugs and some individuals in Lagos Island. The clash that has been on for years has claimed more than 10 lives in 2017 alone.
It is advised that the Lagos CP deploys his versatile experience in combating crime to save the lives of innocent persons in the area, and to forestall general breakdown of law and order. Lagos Island killings have been a long time occurrence which should be wiped out before it becomes it goes out of hand.
A situation where lives are being lost everyday on Lagos Island is unacceptable as it poses a future damage to the area and the state if not checked.
