Joshua Dariye wanted in the UK… EFCC boss, Ibrahim Magu to testify against him

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission Chairman, Ibrahim Magu will testify in the anti-graft agency’s case against the former governor of Plateau sate, Joshua Dariye.

Dariye, who has been accused of embezzling public funds, is being tried on a 23-count criminal charge preferred against him by the EFCC.

In the proof of evidence the EFCC filed before the court, it was stated that Magu and 32 other witnesses will testify and tender evidence against Dariye.

The EFCC boss was said to have been the leader of a five-man team of detectives that investigated the case against Senator Dariye.

Meanwhile, the Abuja High Court sitting at Gudu, was also informed by the EFCC that Dariye is wanted in the United Kingdom for trial over his alleged involvement in money laundering.

The EFCC revealed to the court that Dariye jumped bail in the UK where he was arrested in 2004 and was briefly detained by the London metropolitan Police.

An investigative officer at the EFCC, Musa Sunday also informed the court that Dariye’s case of money laundering is still pending before the London Metropolitan Police.

“The defendant (Dariye) was granted police bail by the UK police. And he jumped bail. The Investigating Police Officer (IPO) in London, Peter Clerk was in Nigeria in the course of our investigation,” Sunday said.
