“Many will mark the holidays in darkness” – APC gives 5 reasons why Christmas may not be fun

by Kolapo Olapoju

It is going to be a very gloomy Christmas for Nigerians, according to the folks at All Progressives Congress.

The opposition party listed a number of challenges being faced by Nigerians, as reasons why the citizenry will have a not-so-fun Christmas celebration.

Below are the reasons, as listed in a statement issued in Abuja on Wednesday by the party’s National Publicity Secretary, Lai Mohammed.

1. Many cannot travel home due to fears of kidnapping, ethno-religious crisis and insurgency, depending on which part of the country they are from.

2. Many cannot celebrate due to the effects of the economic downturn, as manifested in weakening Naira and falling oil prices, both exacerbated by widespread corruption.”

3. Many will mark the holidays in darkness as the country’s public power supply seems to have fallen in a direct proportion to the huge funds ostensibly pumped into the sector in the past few years.

4. Many will be stuck on the roads that have become clogged due to their poor state.

The party listed four problems, but the fifth, according to the party, is what Nigerians have to do to “have a better Christmas celebration in 2015.”

5. While there is no magic wand to solve the myriad of problems facing our country in one swoop, an APC government will begin to positively impact on the citizenry within its first few months at the helm, to such an extent that Nigerians will have a better Christmas celebration in 2015.”
