Jason Sharp is the kind of cop who probably won’t be getting anymore accolades anytime soon. The 37-year old detective was arrested after getting into a fight with his wife and allegedly punching his three-year old son in the face. The officer, who works with the NYPD gang unit sent the poor baby to the hospital with bruising on his right eye, cheek and nose.
Sharp has been suspended for thirty days pending the outcome of the investigation. Records say that the officer was under the influence of alcohol when the incident took place.
“After a few minutes I went back upstairs and found my son Connor crying with two swollen eyes which were impairing his vision and his nose and face were swollen,” Sharp’s wife said.
When police asked the boy what happened, he simply said, “My daddy punched me in the face.”
But Sharp’s story is different, with him saying, “I had an argument with my wife and punched the wall, I had a few drinks today.”
Sharp has been charged with third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
