The National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS on Tuesday in Gombe state elected Comrade Chinonso Obasi as its 31st President.

Obasi, who is known by many as IBB, is a student of Ebony State University, while Comrade Taiwo Bamigbade of Federal University of Technology Akure, FUTA, emerged the new Senate President.

The new NANS President was born in April 1987, in Ugoni Okposi, Ohaozara LGA Ebonyi State. He attended Akanu Ibiam Fed. Poly. Staff primary school (1993-1999), Federal Government college Okposi (1999-2005), Akanu Ibiam Federal Polytechnic Unwana (2005-2010), where he became the Director of Social, Department of Mechanical Engineering (2006).

He later became the Special Adviser to the SUG caretaker committee chairman (2007), SUG president (2009/2010) due to his student welfare oriented administration in his regime. He stood against the increment of tuition fee when he graduated. He proceeded to the Petroleum Training Institute, Effurun, Delta state (2011) where he became the NANS Zone “B” Coordinator. He is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering Production with (Upper Credit).

Obasi is currently a Masters student at the Ebonyi State University.
