Oliseh scandal causes rift in NFF as technical committee members resign

Following the leniency granted to the Head Coach of the Super Eagles, Sunday Oliseh after his now infamous ‘insane’rant, key members of the technical committee of the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF) have reportedly vacated their positions in protest to the decision by the football body.

According to Vanguard who broke the story, Christian Chukwu, Paul Bassey, Victor Ikpeba, Mutiu Adepoju and Garba Lawal are the said members who have resigned their appointments with all of them pointing fingers at Amaju Pinnick’s indecisiveness after he ignored their verdict and reportedly went to the minister of Youth and Sports, Solomon Dalung who then convinced him to give Oliseh a second bite at the cherry.

“The Committee recommended for his outright dismissal after they agreed that he had violated his contract”, a source told the newspaper.

Chairman of the technical committee of the NFF, Chris Green confirmed the new development to the newspaper but said he is talking with the aforementioned members in question to reverse their decision.

He said: “It is true that they are not keen to work again but I am prevailing on them to think twice because of their love and passion for the game and patriotism for the country. They cannot be treated with levity. They are heavyweights on their own and they are not paid a dime for their services”.

Meanwhile, on Tuesday, top chiefs of the football body led by Amaju Pinnick held a meeting with the sports minister Barr. Solomon Dalung on the future of the embattled chief coach.

Oliseh was also reported to have been fined $30,000 for his behaviour, and he’s expected to challenge the decision.
