Opinion: Enough of all these killings for goodness sake

By their countless bizarre acts, the Boko Haram sect have further exacerbated my flaming discontentment and angst over and against their ideological adulation; and so should every concerned Nigerian. It is stark clear what they have proved to be: incorrigible merchants of destruction.

The incident involving the killing of over 43 students of the Federal Government College in Buni Yadi, Yobe State in the early hours of Tuesday, February 25, 2014 is the height of barbarism; an expression of demonic aggression. It is a condemnable display of moral degeneration and a disregard for the sanctus sanctorum of what is [human] life.

They were reportedly killed by members of the Boko Haram insurgents, who besieged their institution and operated.

The male students were forced to pay the eternal price by the fierce swipes of the gun-fusillades and blazing flame hurled at them by their heartless annihilators; lifeless bodies littered and blood gushing.

The incessant news of the disheartenedness has continued to raise issues of urgent concern. Each day, citizens we share territory
together are feasted upon by scavengers of death and nothing seem to be happening.

In the gruesome murder of these innocent students, the heavens have been let loose. These people, I suppose, have beaten more than they can adequately chew; they’ve pushed to the wall, not only the government, but all well-meaning Nigerian citizens. It does not matter who or where it is perpetrated on; it is sinister and antithetical to the human essence.

By their countless bizarre acts, the Boko Haram sect have further exacerbated my flaming discontentment and angst over and against their ideological adulation; and so should every concerned Nigerian. It is stark clear what they have proved to be: incorrigible merchants of destruction.

It beats my mind to imagine the callousness in this act. To know that the people they have so subjected to eternal extinction in such cruel manner are but helpless children with budding ambitions; little Nigerians, who are supposedly in school to define their futures.

I cannot condemn enough this act of brigandry and unabashed display of insensitivity. I cannot cry enough for the lives cut short in their prime. I cannot weep enough for this Leviathan that have descended so heavily on my dear Nigeria pouring out its venomous asp on the peace-loving men and women of this nation.

It is over-due on the part of government to effective muster the will and courage conferred on it by the masses in their defence and
protection, to save the citizenry at this volatile period before it escalates to unredeemable carnage. It must be noted that the people are beginning to loose sight of the ability of Mr President in this affront. He shouldn’t compound their dilemma.

The government has got to put a final stop to this arrant nonsense before it throw us into the cesspit of a failed state. I think the
carrot and stick approach has to be reconsidered; it isn’t working. They do not want carrot, it seems. It should be discarded and done with, in this case, no matter the high profile status of the advocates, since it has proved inefficient.

For how long shall these dissidents continue to be treated with kid’s glove in the name of treating them to a carrot relish; until the chop off the hand feeding them, I guess? The leniency of the president in softly dealing with this sect is legendary; a step that is almost turning him to a weakling. He must not give such daunting impression.

The Jonathan government should not be seen as continuing in the frenzy of giving them the benefit of the doubt. It is a widely known fact that these people are maniacal murderers, who will stop at nothing until mission is accomplished. Shall we seat until so?

Enough is enough.
